Beware the ‘I’m not ready’ lie and don’t let it hold you back

For many years, I’ve been teaching people what the most successful authors and experts do differently from all the rest.

Want to know one of the BIGGEST differences?

It’s simply this…

Most people say to themselves, “I’m not ready yet to <fill-in-the-blank>.”

“I’m not ready yet to get speaking engagements.”

“I’m not ready yet to get publicity”

“I’m not ready yet to put up a website”

“I’m not ready yet to finish my book.”

But sadly “I’m not ready yet” becomes the theme of their life.

The most successful authors, experts and entrepreneurs, however, don’t act this way.

They essentially say to themselves, “I will get started now even though I don’t feel ready and I will learn from my mistakes in the process.”

That’s what Tony Robbins did.

Unlike most people who think they have to have their book written and published before they can began getting media interviews, Tony began speaking and doing interviews long before he ever had written his first book.

He’s done pretty well, right?

This “ready-fire-aim” approach is very counter-intuitive to the perfectionist inside of us.

But it’s common among the high achievers I work with.

Want to know if you truly not ready or just afraid?

Ask yourself this question:

Suppose a busy writer from a major national magazine called you today and asked to interview you right now because they were working on a story about your topic and their deadline was today.

Would you say yes to the interview?

If so, you’re ready to begin getting publicity.

If not, ask yourself why you would say no.

Make sure it’s not perfectionism, or fear, or doubt holding you back.

“I’m not ready yet” usually means “I’m afraid to make mistakes” or “I must know that I will do everything perfectly before I even start.”

Don’t put so much pressure on yourself.

Ask yourself, “How could I just get started and learn as I go?”

Just because you’re not ready to swim in the Olympics doesn’t mean you’re no ready to jump in the pool.  Truth is, if you don’t jump in today, you’ll never win the gold tomorrow.

If you answered yes to the question above, I would like you to consider – just consider – attending my National Publicity Summit, April 25-28 in New York.

Request info now to read about how people just like you who didn’t feel ready got publicity on radio talk shows, featured in major magazines and appeared on national TV – often for the very first time in their lives.

In fact, if you don’t yet feel ready to attend my Summit and meet the media, you’re not alone.  In fact, I’ve discovered that feeling is often a reason why you should attend.

I realize that you probably don’t feel ready – particularly if you’re new to the publicity game.

That’s exactly why my coaches and I are going to work with you and train you one-on-one so that you ARE ready when you show up in New York.

Plus, when you meet the media, you’ll find that in addition to pitching them on giving you coverage, in many cases you’ll also get invaluable feedback and guidance which will help you improve your future publicity efforts.

At my last Summit, one of the attendees came up to me at the opening cocktail party.

He said something that I’ve heard countless times, “Steve I’ve already gotten my money’s worth from your National Publicity Summit even though it hasn’t even started.”

I asked him to explain.

“Just the training alone has been worth the price of admission.  When I signed up, I didn’t realize I’d get so much training from you and your team.  Thanks to you and your coaches, I now know exactly what I am going to say to the media. I now have several excellent publicity hooks and my media-one sheet is done, and I’m clear on what I need to do to get the media’s attention. “

But then he said, “I almost didn’t come because I didn’t feel ready.”

I’ve heard this countless times – enough to know that the best advice I can give you is to trust your gut.

If you’re ready to soar to the next level, we’ll give you more training and connections than you can imagine.  But only you can decide to take the plunge.

We’re down to less than 39 of the 100 spots remaining, so if you’d like to attend get info now and we’ll see you April 25-28 in New York.

Whether you attend the Summit or not, I really hope you’ll stop letting “I’m not ready yet” hold you back!
